We took up a collective donation for a girl at work's second wedding shower a week ago. I made the total donation from my personal account. By the day of the shower  I hadn't heard from the 2 department heads (despite 3 previous emails), so I emailed them "are you in or out" (paraphrase). They both replied "in" so I went ahead and made the donation, they went out to lunch with all of us, signed the "we made a donation" card. But they still haven't paid me back.

Do I remind them or do I just consider that money gone? After 4 different reminders before it was due?

I would physically go to their office.  Email is clearly not enough.

If that doesn't work, yes, write it off and don't count on them again.

I raised an eyebrow at a second wedding shower. Or - is the the second shower for her first wedding? My eyebrow descends a bit if that's the case.

I agree with DG. Physically go to their offices. I wouldn't let it go that easily, but I'm a tightwad.

B-Mom, it's her 2nd wedding, she didn't ask for anything, we just thought it would be nice to do something for her. She had ovarian cancer last year and recovered, so we decided to do a donation in her honor, and go out to lunch together. No side-eye needed.
