It just wasn't going to be worth it, and I would have been miserable for most of the time. Des is also having some issues (teeth, we hope), so I feel better not leaving him for six nights in the middle of that.

I'm mostly relieved.


I'm still trying to get rid of my ticket (transferrable, but not refundable), so if you know any interactive/gamer/social media/mobile/whatever types who'd like to go, please point 'em my way.

Booo!  It looks like it would be so much fun, but I can see how difficult it would be to justify it when you have stuff going on at home.

By the way, did you ever update us on that project you were pitching on last week?

I'm just not sure it's my kind of fun. Lots of partying and late nights. LOTS of it. Lots of introducing yourself to strangers, which I am not good at (see: old FB post re: playground mom). Lots of big crowds and waiting in long lines.

Seriously. I prepared less for 2 weeks in India than some people prepare for this. I had even considered having amazon ship food and water to my hotel so I knew I would have something to eat and drink. Later, I read on one person's blog that she actually does that. People make huge packing lists, both for teh whole trip and for the day bag. Part of me was ready to say "screw that" and wing it, but it was pretty clear that such an approach would have led to more problems, like tons of blisters, achy back and feet, and waiting in line 3 hours for an incredibly overpriced lunch when you're already starving.

It's insane. I'm not saying I won't try to go next year, but I'll be much better prepared, and I won't plan to go for six days. I just don't have that kind of stamina anymore, I don't think.
