Wedding Woes

wwyd?

you find some cash in the small office parking lot. your building has about a dozen tenants, and you do not have a way to reach all of them, only some of them.

Re: wwyd?

  • ok. i voted #1, BUT i am special and want to talk about it.

i would hold onto it and not spend it until i know for sure no one is coming forward and asking if anyone found money or admitting they lost money.

sometimes i wish i could find hundreds of dollars, but then that would mean someone would have to lose hundreds of dollars for me to find it on the ground. i would hate to be the person to lose all that money.
  • I answered #2 but I am also special.  If it was $5, I would keep it.  If it was $50 I would spend it on some cookies for the office.  If it was $500 I would make some phonecalls, but if no one claimed it I would buy lunch for the office (lunch of McDonalds $1 menu items, I keep the $400 in change).

  • Confession - When DH and I first moved in together we were broke. Like barely able to afford ramen kind of broke. It was Christmas and we had resigned ourselves to not being able to afford anything. We had no tree, no presents, no decorations, nothing. We found around $200 in the parking lot and kept it. We still use most of the decorations we bought with that money. I felt bad, it was Christmas after all, but it was the only way we were able to celebrate that first year.

  • I'm with wz.  I'd hold it for a while to see if anyone says they lost it.

  • More than $100 and I'd hold it for a bit.  More than $1000 I'd make a few calls.
