Wedding Woes

Not a great father-daughter relationship...

HELP. I am the quote "peace-keeper" in my family, but I've had enough. My Dad and I haven't seen eye-to-eye in years and recently he's pushed me over the edge when he had nothing but negative things to say about me and my fiance, including how he thought we wouldn't last... I've tried to keep a decent relationship with my father up until now and I just don't see him as a major part of my wedding, or for that matter, at all. Walking me down the aisle seems to be no longer an option, nor is a father-daughter dance. How can I tell my Dad my Grandfather will be walking me down the aisle and that there will be no father-daughter dance?

If he's surprised that you don't want him to walk you down the aisle or share a dance with you he's delusional. He probably isn't delusional, and won't be shocked when you let him know Grandpa is giving you away and sharing a dance with you. If he throws a temper tantrum just thank your lucky stars you already decided to stop trying to do both jobs.
