Wedding Woes

I did some shopping this week

Kohls- 5 bras, a pair of pants, and bday present for M2...$103.

Target- I bought 2 pairs of jeans last week and 3 tops.  I liked the one top in store, but hated it at home so returned it this morning.  I went back for another tank and ended up getting 3 tanks, a dress, and 2 t-shirts.

And a grocery budget update (DH and I had a bet about whether this would go down or not).  We are 2 wks in and I am waaaay under budget.  I've even had to replace some crap we didn't bother to move and buy stuff for the party.  If I win I get an extra spa service at my next visit.  That massage is mine.

Re: I did some shopping this week

  • Score!  I did a great job at Old Navy last night for the girls and I.

I used to be so good about coming in right at budge for the groceries, but lately I've been going over.  I know I was over this week because of Son's spring break (this kid eats like it's his job) but I don't really have an excuse for the other weeks I've gone over budget.  Not even good sales to blame.

  • 6 - I thought your husband was smarter than that!   With all of the grocery stores you have right around the corner, plus Wal-mart, GFS and Aldi's????    He never stood a chance on that bet!

Awesome. I was going to ask what the timeline was on the bet.

You're lucky with the Target shopping. Almost none of their stuff fits me. :(

AF- his words were "you don't get much cheaper than Aldi."  Yes, I shopped there before, but not for everything.  The cheapest milk in BFE was $3.29.  It's $2 here.  I was unimpressed with GFS.  Maybe when we have another freezer or if we were having a bigger party, but there wasn't much I wanted.

DG- I was thinking of you with the tanks I bought.  They are so long they cover my ass.  I was shocked about the jeans.  One pair I didn't even try on, just grabbed and planned to return.
  • Our GF has really good fruit and fresh veggies, I always get the best strawberries there.  Now I want strawberries...
  • I suck at grocery shopping savings.  I hate meal planning witht he fire of a thousand suns.  I rarely even shop with a list and I never bother to check the ads although I don't know if it matters.  We only have the beat-up, run-down Kroger, Wal-Mart and a little independent place with limited selection.

  • i usually send DK grocery shopping with a list. We have at least 4 grocery stores, a walmart, and a target within a mile and a half of our house - he usually goes to the Randalls for everything, unless we know one of the other stores has something good on sale. When I want to get something different/fancy, i drive 10-15 minutes and go to the really nice, new HEB. They have a fantastic selection.

I miss the farmer's market that was near our townhouse in North Philly. That place was so cheap, and the produce was great quality.
  • I6 - when the farmer's market season begins, Worthington and Clintonville both have good ones on Saturday mornings.   Powell has one on Thursday afternoons (I believe) that decent.   And not that you'd want to come all the way out by me, but New Albany has an OK one on Thursday's too.   If you're ever out in the Gahanna area on a Saturday morning, the Jefferson Township Farmer's Market is huge and awesome.

Yaaaay!  I figured there would be some markets around here.  BFE kind of sucked, but there was good fudge.
