Wedding Woes

I'm trapped upstairs

There is a giant bug downstairs in my kitchen - - one with about 8 million legs.   I missed my opportunity to kill it because I had sandals on.  I went to get some shoes on and when I came back, it slithered behind a case of Pepsi.
I came upstairs to hide and deal with my extreme case of the heebie-jeebies and now I can't go back down there.   Yell

BTW - first day of work was awesome!   I'm working shorter hours this week because they don't have a computer for me yet (it's coming on Friday.)

if it's a centipede, spray it with hairspray.

worms used to never freak me out. Now when it rains I do this weird walking dance trying to avoid them. Even in my rain boots I'm convinced they're going to get in my shoes. ~shudder~

    Spiders forever freak me out.

I'll try hairspray.   My grandma used to kill bugs with Windex, so I might try that, too.
Usually I just get the vacuum out and suck bugs up, but this thing was huge.  I wasn't sure if the vacuum would work after that.

Aww, I love earthworms.  Those things with the million legs terrify me, though.

I love earthworms too.  I like to see them at night when they hide.

I totally use the vacuum on bugs. I always have to run it for an extra few seconds though, because I'm afraid the bug will hold on to the inside of the tube and crawl back out.

I had a spider in the shower do that once. The thing crawled up and out once I was done and got out. FREAKED. ME. OUT.

Now everything gets extra long vacuuming or blasts of the hottest water my shower can manage.

The internets tell me that what I saw was a house centipede.    They feed on spiders, silverfish and other bugs.   Which is why we have the centipede, I guess.   We've had a spider problem ever since we moved in last November, and since it's been warm we've had ants and other little bugs.   We have a great buffet set up for the centipedes!!!
We were debating going the exterminator route, but after seeing this, I think the decision has been made.
    Oh, Orkin Man!

<div>OMG, these are seriously my worst fear in the whole world!  I actually do ok with most kinds of bugs.  I don't like them but I can deal.  My first apartment had a centipede problem, and some nights I couldn't fall asleep because I kept thinking I saw one or heard one!  I'd be hiding upstairs too. :) </div>
