from the story bmom (I think) shared about putting a kid in the overhead compartment.
My mom said a little girl (she said she was older than 1 but younger than 2) cried for 12 of the 13 hour flight on the way to China. After they landed, they were waiting to get off the plane, when a stewardess stormed over to the mother, grabbed the girl by the arms and started shaking her. She was yelling "STOP! STOP! You are just doing this for attention!"
The mother was in shock, as if she couldn't believe what was happening. She had been doing everything she could for that girl, rocking her, walking her around, singing, reading to her. She was visibly upset that she couldn't get her daughter to stop crying and now this woman grabbed her child. The dad had moved to an open seat and slept the whole flight.
The stewardess asked what the daughter's name was and the mom told her. She shook her a few more times and patted her butt hard, as if she wanted to spank her but was stopping herself and finally handed the baby back to her mother. There was another steward just staring at this scene, not knowing what to do.
I told my mom, there was no way I'd let someone grab my child from me like that, and frankly, I don't know how she and my grandma watched it happen without stepping in. I know I'd be saying something if it were me in that situation. You just don't grab someone's child. Period.
