Neck pain update

I went to the doctor yesterday.  Our regular doctor is on vacation this week so I had to see someone we've never seen before.

He didn't really have much to say about the neck pain.  It's my trapezius muscle.  He suggested heat (which I've done more than once a day for a week), stretches (which I've done more than once a day for a week), and going to get a massage.

He said if I didn't do anything to injure the area it could be stress-related.  Basically, he couldn't tell me anything I didn't already know, but he was concerned about my vision disturbances so he's sending me for an MRI of my brain tomorrow afternoon.

When he asked me if I'd be ok getting into the machine, I was like "30-60 min of laying down by myself and not moving?  Yeah, I can handle that."

Oh hell, I'd be bringing an eye mask and taking a nap.  :)

Good luck!  I hope they figure it out.
  • I'm glad he took your complaints seriously.  And congrats on the alone time!

  • That is a long time for a MRI. Have fun in the tube. The last time I went, they gave me headphones and I got to listen to music :)

  • Min - I'm not really sure how long it will take tomorrow, but I remember it taking about 45 minutes for the MRI on my knee when I tore my ACL.  Maybe because it was difficult to get it into the position they wanted?

Music would be great to drown out the noises!

He didn't suggest a muscle relaxant for the trapezius?

  • No, DG.  I was wondering about it, but I didn't bring it up.  My MRI results are supposed to be in Friday or Monday, so I might ask about it then, since I won't be able to get back in to the doctor until after vacation.
