Just found out today that my Dad's step mom (and the only grandmother I've ever known on his side) is not coming to my wedding. When my Grandfather passed away 2 years ago she found it too painful to see us; however, she did say she would be able to come to my wedding. Today I got an email saying she was leaving next week to go to her daughter's house in Colorado and help her prepare to move. It breaks my heart that she considers helping her biological daughter show her house, pack and move more important then coming to my wedding. Especially when it is a pretty obvious flimsy excuse not to come.
If the roles were reversed, I don't see my Grandfather turning his back on her children and grandchildren like she has on us.
I'm trying to remember that this is her loss; however, it's hard not to feel like she doesn't even care anymore...
