Wedding Woes

dad broke hip 8 days before wedding!

Need help/ suggestions on how to have a father/daughter dance.  My dad broke is hip 8 days before the wedding (im getting married on 4/16/11)... I'm his only child and he is my only dad; my mother is disabled and isn't capable of replacing my father.  Obviously I can't sit on his lap bc I will do more harm than good.  He is already heartbroken enough that he can't "walk" me down the aisle; he is having to be pushed in a wheel chair so getting rid of the dance is NOT an option.  I have heard suggestions of getting another wheel chair so we are both in wheel chairs for the dance and others have suggested me holding his hands and swaying back and forth with the chair... suggestions, comments, any other ideas???

one of my friends didn't do a father-daughter dance.  she played the piano while he played the violin.  of course, we're korean and we all know how to play some musical instrument, so your results may vary.

I didn't have a father-daughter dance. I danced with FIL and H danced with his MIL (my mom).

Have your dad make the first toast or offer the blessing.

It doesn't sound like your dad is going to be able to dance, no matter how much he wants to. I'm not sure how you are both going to be able to dance in a wheelchair.

What about compiling some pics of you and him through the years and play it as a slideshow while your favorite song plays?

Do what your Dad can do. And then if that's not enough for you, or him, just be glad he's alive. (My friend just got married, her dad had been in a coma 3 weeks before the date. This is the advice I gave her, and it worked. He did what he could, and it was lovely.).

Wheel chair hand jive would be a billion times better than my Dad and I's 8 minute clutch and sway (he picked the song). There are bigger deals in the world than this.
Dear Rain, Not Today. Sincerely, My Parade
