Need advice

How do I tell my good friend that my finace and I are planning our wedding for next summer, when she wont be here? She is going to Australia in April of 2012 for a year. How do I approach this sensitive subject? She has asked that we wait til she gets back in 2013 but we don't want to do that.

Well, your friend was awfully presumptuous to tell you when you should have your own wedding. You have every right to have it when you want, even if that means she won't be there.

Hey, I say tell her you'll wait if she'll pay for it all.  Yep. 

But really, just out with it.  Tell her you're sorry she won't be here, but that you'll miss her.

Your friend doesn't get to set your wedding date.  She knew when she signed up to leave for a year that she would miss some big events.

Thanks guys. I just know she will be very upset. I want her there to but at the same time should not have to put it on hold. How do I calmy address this with her?

I guess I am just a bit stressed at her reaction. She can be a bit of a hot head.

That's her problem, not yours. If she's so difficult and demanding, perhaps you should rethink your friendship with her.

ditto the Skype. It works wonders. I was overseas for 2 years and Skyped to my friends all the time. Skype to skype is free - video and audio.
