Why are flights so expensive?

I know why, but my goodness.

A sista just wants to take a short vacay for the summer but these airlines are wanting two teeth a leg, and my wonky eyes for a flight.

Where are you looking to go?  

When we were booking our flights for San Diego, we thought we were going to pay an upwards of $1300 for 3 tickets.  After a day or two of searching, I found a United flight that was just over $1000 for 3 tickets.   I think I booked them on Hotwire.

I want to go somewhere with a beach. I was thinking maybe Puerto Rico or  Dominican Republic.

 I've been to Miami already, but even that flight is high.

I might have to go with Zsa and her friends and sleep under a wine bush with them to save some bucks.:)

Quit yer b1tchin. Government deregulation is the cause, but keep in mind if they did not deregulate you'd have very few carriers (no budget airlines like Southwest) and your ticket prices would still be higher. US carriers at ethe safest in the world as well. You don't get cheap tickets and free everything without some sort of trade off somewhere.

My trip to Greece got cancelled when tickets skyrocketed above the $1500 we'd budgeted for the trip.  I'm quite sad about missing two weeks on the beach at Corfu.
