Carts HAVE gotten bigger!

The article's about tricks stores use to get you to shop more. "Spacious carts" get you to put more in them. Or, in my case, buy a pulley system to get the stuff at the bottom, since there's no way I can reach over the top of the cart without falling in.

yeah, my 5'2" pregnant ass basically has to climb up and get in the damn cart when i do my shopping.

there's a grocery store in my parents' town that still uses the old school grocery carts -- the really shallow ones, where the end unhooks and you just shove the food onto the conveyor belt.

Oooh, I loved those when I was a kid.  It felt so automated.

Did you know that stores play specific types of music at different types of day just to influence your shopping style? They play slower songs when they want you to take your time and shop, faster songs during the rush hour so that you'll make more impulse buys. It's VERY sneaky.

I just wish my local Kroger would quit playing the "Do you want shingles?  If you don't want scabby itchy shingles, come to our pharmacy right NOW!!!" message every 10 minutes.  They can try to manipulate me with their music, but the shingles ad makes me want to dump my cart and vomit in the parking lot.

I wish we had a Kroger.  I went to the one 35 mins away Wed and loved it.  They had a sushi guy right there!

We went to a different grocery store than usual to try and save some time.  It's a big chain name.  The baskets were bigger and had a drink holder in it.  DH and I just stared at it, like WTF, can you not be separated from a soda, oh wait there's a Starbucks in here, that's what it's for.

Ha!  Thank you. 

6- My Kroger is not that fancy.  I get coupons in the mail all the time for products that they don't even carry in my local store.  They don't even keep all of the lights on in the store after 8pm or so even though they are open 24 hours.  If you need cat litter at 9pm you are stumbling through the dark to find it.

Man, I miss kroger so much.  I got to go to one when I went to Ann Arbor last month, and it was pretty awesome, even though it seems like it wasn't in the "nice" part of ann arbor.

Then again, I apparently live in the hood where we are only worthy of one grocery store that is teeny tiny and has zero selection.
