anyone have a suddenly picky FI?

My FI basiclly doesn't really do the research, but goes with me to see the venues and to tastings (not hard to do haha).

BUT I am finding he is getting super picky about the finer details, like how he doesn't want banquet tables, he wants round tables... even though the venue under consideration is very long and slender and getting people into the space is much more comfortable and efficient geometrically speaking using banquet tables.

Is this pickiness happening to anyone else?  How do I deal with this?  I want him involved because I want him to enjoy the day, but he is willing to overlook entire venues (that happen to be affordable for our tight budget and gorgeous) because we might have to rent chairs because the ones there he thinks are ugly.  I mean, to me that's no big deal because it can be accomodated by our budget.

This is very unexpected, hes a blue collar burly redneck lol.

It could be the stress starting to get to him. He doesn't know how to vent, so he finds little things to nitpick

if you don't want his opinions, don't ask.

btw, you really don't want his input; you just want him to agree with you.

hmmm that makes sense, he's been dealing with a lot financially and at work, and of course with the wedding (we already have guest list drama from his mom, and I'm letting him handle that to preserve my relationship with his family).  

Of course I really want him to agree with me, it makes things much easier that way if we are on the same page.  But I'd rather him genuinely agree, not just agree to shut me up lol.
