Wedding dress donation question...

I was wondeirng if any of you ladies had heard of or know of any places where one can donate their wedding dress.  I'm not planning on keeping mine, but I'm having a hard time finding a place to donate it to.  I don't really want to donate it to GoodWilll - I'd rather donate it to a place that specifically takes in wedding gowns for low-income women.

I donated mine to the Making Memories Foundation - Brides Against Breast Cancer.  They clean and re-sell the dresses and the proceeds go to breast cancer research and make-a-wish fulfillments.  They ask for a small donation ($20-40) to help w/ cleaning costs if your dress really needs it.  Hope this helps!

You may check and see if there is a church or local community center you could donate it to so that they could loan it out to brides who cannot afford a dress.  Goodwill and Salvation Army both spend a lot of money in our community helping those less fortunate so it does really help out but, the bride wearing it wouldn't likely be low income or in need.  

Another option would be a military base.  Not sure how you do it but, just a thought.

Hope those help! The second one if more for prom and formal dresses, but I thought wedding dresses fit in as well.
