My Brother-in-law to be and his fiance recently ended things.  Over the course of their relationship she and I became friends and were excited to someday be sisters in law.  My fiance thinks I should call her and make sure she's doing ok after the break-up but I don't know.  I'd still like to be her friend, but is that taboo because she's a family member's ex?

Not in my opinion, you can still be a friend and listen without getting directly involved.  I would think she would apprecaite knowing your family still cares about her.

How close are you to your brother? Also how did things end between them? If it was her fault, the answer is a hands down no! I have a similar situation going on right now and I would be crushed if my sisters continued to be friends with my ex.

I can't stand it when people break up and think you can't like the ex anymore. If it was a clean break up and you have no reason to dislike that person, then who cares she's not engaged to ur soon to be brother n law. If it bothers your brother n law, too bad. He'll get over it. I would absolutely call her and see how she's doing, if you want to be a good friend
