WWYD? Hypothetical

You send an email telling a customer that you are needing more funds to complete a project.  The customer doesn't respond.

  • The lawyers are demanding the unicorns and rainbows, aren't they?

Keep record of the email and the lack of response. And sit on the project.  When they want to know why it isn't done, reference the email.

ETA: My work computer needs to recognize that loading the complete page, including poll, is necessary for my side job of knotting.  JESUS.  Apologies for the irrelevant answer.

If I go and study law, can I get paid in rainbows?
  • it really goes back to the contract and the customer. I call my supplier demanding unicorns and rainbows, even if i know i'm going to be lucky to get a ladybug and a can of pop.

if the contract is progress payments, or there's a change order resulting in higher costs that requires approval - they may not feel they should need to pay to continue to receive the service (although they should *respond* and tell you if that's the case.)
  • Oh no.  They said they had exhausted the money, and they needed additional funds to continue.  Funds were not sent, and then they continued to work...uh?

  • B/c depending on the case and what they were working on, an attorney can be obligated to continue working even w/out payment.

And b/c s/he doesn't want to hear yer b!tichin' when s/he dumps you as a client and your sch!te gets all screwed up.  It's cheaper to keep doing it and sue you for nonpayment later than have to fix a mess.
