Wedding Woes

I hate this state sometimes -- Vent/Whine

So, just received my first racist forward.  This time it's about the "red dot" of the Hindu religion and what it signifies.

Why does this keep happening to me?  I'm trying really hard just to sit in my own little office and just exist within an already existing culture.  But why do people think I would be interested in such crap?  They've known me for all of 8 days and beyond that, it's completely unprofessional to ever do something like that over work e-mail.

Also, snide comments are being made about Obama speaking at Joplin's graduation.  I think this is awesome and uplifting for Joplin, since this is the class that lived through one of the worst tornados in modern history and lost classmates, their school and their homes.  Joplin is still in recovery mode.  Seeing that the tornado happened on commencement night last year, I think this is something really positive for these kids.

And I'm sorry people, but if this is a political stump, he's in the wrong danged place.  There is NO WAY anyone would be swayed from their Christian duty of voting Republican in those counties.  I doubt they've voted Democrat ever (now I"m curious and going to check, but the population is so low there and it's usually around 30% or less Dem for the last 12 years that I can remember and I'm pretty sure Clinton didn't take them either.  Why would the party spend money there?  They spend in KC and StL, b/c those counties can influence the vote in large numbers to grab MO).

Okay, it's out and I'm finished.

  • Agreed.

Being disrespectful is tacky regardless of what you believe.

Also, I can sympathize with you, a neighbor to your north.

  • I definitely feel you on the racism thing. Being ignorant and disrespectful is never okay.

What kind of snide comments are being made about Obama speaking in Joplin? I don't follow American politics much.

  • Ugh, I feel the pain of living in state filled with ignorant people who spout nonsense and half-truths. It's a disease.
  • I'm pretty sure you can find rude people anywhere.

  • Oh mostly that it's a candidate stump speech w/out being called one.  Which just doesn't make sense for the reason's I listed above.  I dont' think we'll see much campaigning in Missouri, since it's being called Republican now, rather than a swing state.

  • Yeah...people are so dumb, V.  WHY would he go there(for stumping)?  Really?  And Joplin?

    *smh*
