MIL won't STFU about that fecking bonnet

Please to be remembering the Duggar bonnet MIL sent, her constant demands for pictures of DD in it, and the results when we tried to get DD to pose in it for us.

The photos of DD hating having the bonnet on her head weren't good enough, and MIL continues to pester DH about it.  Seriously?  Who gives someone a gift, asks for pictures of it, and then asks for more when she doesn't like the first batch?  This thing is becoming the bane of my existence.

Since she's been particularly demanding lately, DH came up with the non-brilliant plan of putting it on DD when we do portraits.  No.  Hell no.  1) DD hates that bonnet, 2) I'm not wrestling with her when she's in her nice dress to try to get a bonnet on her head for 0.4 seconds before she tosses it off again, 3) a pissed off kid does not exactly make for great portraits, and 5) I can't stand MIL and she's pissing me off and I'm digging in my heels.

I am <this /> close to emailing MIL and telling her that the pics we sent are all she's getting, give it a rest.

Hit the walmart $4.99 photo deal and call it a day.  Or accidently ruin it in the wash.

If you tried to put that bonnet on me, I'd wrestle with you too.

Wouldn't it be a shame if the bonnet got lost in a tragic laundy accident?

It's hard enough to get portraits with a kid who isn't pissed off.

Why is MIL so hung up on the bonnet?

I'm with notamrs. The bonnet needs to get lost. You can tell MIL that M loved it so much she wore it to the park where it was stolen by a bonnet loving toddler bandit.

But that would require going to Wal-Mart.

I have thought about "losing" it, or ruining it, but knowing her she would then prattle on about THAT constantly.  And if there's anything I'm less interested in hearing about than how she wants MORE pictures of DD in that hideous bonnet, it's how upset she is that I let the bonnet get lost/destroyed.  Because it would totally be my fault, in her eyes.  Even if she didn't know that it actually was my fault.  (Wasn't there a Seinfeld episode like that?  When Elaine threw the fur coat out the window at the party, and she was mad about being asked to replace it--not because she threwit out the window, but because she was supposed to be in charge of the coats?)

I just can't believe how obnoxious she's being over this.

Well, you might try the bonnet pics at the end of the session - but I know you don't want to intentionally make your kid miserable.

Does this woman not have eyeballs? It is clear this kid doesn't like the bonnet.

One of my problems with MIL is that she's completely incapable of empathy.  She wants what she wants, and other people are just sort of like movie extras.  So no, I don't think she notices or cares that Maddie hates the bonnet.  Had she asked, I could have told her that Maddie really doesn't like having anything on her head, but this gift was never about what Maddie would like, only MIL.

So mail the damn thing back to her.  On a baby doll head.

When I was in High School, we had to disect cats. One particularly weird boy cut the head off of his cat. Finally, I thought of a use for that severed cat's head.

For cereal. H needs to tell his Mother that Maddie doesn't like anything on her head, including a bonnet. If she keeps on, tell her if she likes it so much she needs to wear it on her own dayum head at a Wal-mart photo session. Hmph.

Maddie's 11 months old, MIL can get OVER it.

Sorry, that strikes a chord, when someone's so selfish they'd rather upset the baby for their own selfish reasons. /rant
