Wedding Woes

NOLA

Have you seen Good Hair? If I get a weave, I'm gonna have to go by Raven's rules. Girl is picky about her weaves, as she should be.

We need to get together and scope out places and prices.

My hair dresser does weaves, and he is an equal opportunity weaver.:)

Ok. He mostly does the brown chicks, but he has had white clients too. I"m going tonight so I will ask his prices.

Please start saving because weave isn't cheap.

there is a place by my house (walking distance!) that has a giant banner for $50 weaves.

    I imagine this can't be a very high-quality weave - am I wrong?

DG - Um....a $50 weave is them probably sticking the hair they brush of the ground on your head.  Weaves are like a thousand dollars.

NOLA - I'm going to assume it's less of a thing for someone to do white hair. If I were AA and some white chick was all "Sure we do black hair" I'd turn tail and run. Being white, if some AA dude says he can handle my three thin and fine hairs, I'm game. I may have turned this into the RPOTD.

  • Min, I don't think so.  (re: this being RPOTD)  If you are AA, you work with AA hair every day.  Same with any other "type" of hair.  I mean, if you have curly hair, you know curly hair best, etc.

    Just the facts.

  • He worked at Regis salon where he had many white clients, but said that he has more black clients because we come more often.

His white clients only come for cuts and color, and we go for maintenance. So, it's more profitable to have a mix.

  • Well, NOLA, tell him you know a narrow white girl who has but three hairs on her head and she wants a thick weave to whip around. Human hair. Not plastic crap that will melt.

Ok. I just looked at his site, and extensions start at $200. This doesn't include the price of the hair. Tha's extra.

  • I know parts and labor come seperate. So, we'd have to figure out where to get the hair, too.

  • He usually tells ladies where they can buy it or he can buy it in advance if you know what type of hair and color you want.

It's probably a good idea to have a consultation first and go from there. I'll talk to him tonight and let you know what he says.
