Wedding Woes

I ran yesterday.

For like a minute. Not for my life. It felt pretty good, until it didn't, and I was just thinking "This is how they get you." First it's a little jog on the morning walk, then it's a morning run, next thing you know you're meeting Oface for the Tough Mudder.

Just felt like sharing.

Re: I ran yesterday.

  • The first thing that popped in my head after reading this was "who was out to get you?"

But good for you. I need to start running again. I feel all stressed and anxious, and I know the running will make me feel better. But I kinda prefer wine.
  • I tried running/joggin at one point in my life. I got into a bit of a habit for about two months.  It did feel good but I couldn't get over the feeling that people were watching me and laughing.

  • Good job!  I'm not interested in running, but I am interested in the alone time/time to listen to music.   I may take up power walking.   Or maybe just regular walking.

Seriously, fuckem. If it feels good and is good for you, let them laugh as they sit on their chair asses.

When I was in weight watchers, there was a woman there who had lost about 80 pounds. She had at least 80 more to go, so if you saw her on the street, you'd think, "fattie." But you know what? She had already lost 80 pounds! Good for her.

Now, when I see people jogging, I remind myself that I have no idea how far they've come. If I see them stop and take a break, I don't know if they've run 5 feet or 5 miles.

I say this part-defensively. I am a horrible runner, but damnit, other people should be encouraging me just for getting out from behind the laptop. If they want to scoff, fate will find a way to punch them in the face.

  • I've been walking pretty regularly since September - I drop Bacon off at school, go to the state park, and use their trails. It's a good start to the day, although the snow this year has been cray-cray and I'm a little annoyed. I should call the mall and see if they open early to let the old people exercise. Not as solitary, but at least I wouldn't break an ankle on the leftover ice.

  • I can handle the silent laughing from a distance.  It's the people who feel compelled to roll down the window to yell or take a picture that I can't handle.

  • And I ran, I ran so far away...

I'm trying to psych myself up to start running.  I do aerobic workouts currently, but I want to di the 'Go Dirty Girl' mud run in June and I probably need to do some running before I do a 5k.

    You're joking, right?

And bmom, I think most malls do, and I'd think that especially true in snowy climates. You definitely don't want any injuries when you are getting on a roll. ::looks at foot::

that's how i feel. i've lost my baby weight + 30lbs. i still have a long ways to go, but i'm working on it, and that's what is important.
  • DG - No, not joking.  It happened a lot more in college.  But since I have lived here I have had a guy follow me with a cell phone trying desperately to get a picture of my ass.  And a car full of boys slow down while I was walking the dogs to shout something about needing to walk my fat ass more often.

  • Whenever I see people running, I am filled with jealousy, envy and pride. I am jealous and envious that they have such a healthy habit. I am proud of them. I can't run, because of my knees.

My youngest sister is a fitness trainer/instructor and she is coming up with a plan for me. My muscles are atrophying here. No yard, no dog, no nada. It's sofa city, baby. And that ain't good for the muscle tone.

  • zsa - wtf?  I wish I could find those guys to deliver junkpunches all around.  And then deliver some to their parents for raising kids who think it's okay to do act that way.
  • I'm trying to psych myself up to start Couch to 5K soon.  I wish I had gotten it together soon enough to have been in shape to do this:

  • WTF zsa?  Those people are jerkoffs to the nth degree.

I keep thinking I want to run, but never actually move my feet fast enough to do it.  I miss rollerblading.  This neighborhood sucked for it so i got rid of them, but now I want them back.  Maybe I'll ask for my bday.

Hee.  You're funny...runner or not, I'd love to meet you.

And honestly-I'm going to be one of those sellouts and say "any movement is better than none".  The end.

  • PS.  I don't laugh at people out, because it could be me, therefore I imagine people don't laugh at me.  Unless I'm run-pooping which hasn't happened, thank jeebus.

  • I loved running, my knees just can't take it anymore. Now I jazzercise. And for days I don't make it, we are getting a rowing machine delivered today, I am excited to use it, husband is too, I think.

  • I think I've said before how I'm actually allergic to running - itchy hives after about 5 minutes. It's insane. A medical mystery.

I'm very jealous of runners. I'd love to be able to just bring shoes & a sports bra anywhere and let the world be my gym.
