If anyone is thinking about heading to the Wedding expo at the Seattle Center this weekend (8/28-8/29), Wedding Wire is one of probably many places that does 2-for-1 admission. Reply to this thread or send me a PM if you're (a) not on Wedding Wire's mailling list, and (b) want the freebie .

I recommend staying away from the Wedding Expos put on by Bride's Club (or something like that). Total waste of time and money. It took me about 10 minutes to go through the one I went to (August '09), it had odd vendors (Penguin Windows), there were hardly any brides there (so it felt odd walking through - all the vendors were like vultures), and they sold my email address.

yup, bridesclub spammed the crap out of me...so be sure when you sign up for stuff there, you're using an email address that you won't be using after the wedding!

I have attended many of bridesclubs Expos.  I have found them to be very FUN for me, my business and the brides we have worked with for 15 years.  I have been apart of Exposfor well over 15 years.  One reason we use these shows is because brides book us. 

I am very careful and serious about how we approach brides and make them feel welcome.  I do not like being called a "vulture"  I believe that the percentage of brides that feel this way are minimal.  Although, I am sorry that you did not feel good about the Expo you attended.  I was at the show this last weekend and spoke with dozens of brides very excited to book our service as well as discuss many options available at the Show.

As to your name being sold.  Bridesclub gives me your name after you fill out a registration form at the front. I do not buy it.  It is not for sale.   I have told many brides not to fill them out or not give them your email or phone number if it is a problem.  I use the lists reguraly and hear from brides that they are anticipating show deals and offers.  I will gladly pass on the information to bridesclub and make them aware of how you feel.

hi, just so you know vendors aren't allowed to post on the message boards. this was part of the TOS. if you want to communicate via message boards, there's a way to do that..but you have to go through official TK means....i'm not really sure what they are since i'm not a vendor, but i know you can do "official vendor response" posts. you get a fancy badge and everything.

Jennlin- I'm so confused - did The Knot already remove a vendor post from this thread?

As far as Brides Club stuff goes, I don't think their shows are that bad. I wouldn't pay a full $15 or whatever but especially to see some of the photographers, they have their place. But they do prove to you pretty quickly why you should have an easy to organize (like Gmail tabs) email address exclusively for wedding stuff.
