Wedding Woes

Backyard Tent wedding or Venue- The great debate

I am supposed to be getting married next august and I do not have a venue yet, because I thought I wanted a backyard bbq wedding at my dads. I am having second thoughts for MANY reasons. For the tent, chairs, dance floor, food etc, would be about $3500, plus I need to rent a porta potty which is about 200. I dont want a cheesey looking tent, so I know I would have to spend ALOT on decorations. I am sooooo confused because Fratellos seems to be cheaper, if not just about the same. I am also worried about it being to hott at a backyard wedding and myself and my guests being uncomfortable...anyone have any thoughts or have been in my shoes?! HELP!Cry

DH and I were married outdoors, but our ceremony was 20 min. and the reception was indoors and air-conditioned.  Honestly, I would not plan to spend hours outdoors in August.  It's likely that you and your guests will be uncomfortable.

I have no idea what August is like in your area, but if someone had a backyard wedding in August HERE, we wouldn't go.  It was over 100 degrees in the evenings for nearly 10 days straight and high 80s, 90s the rest of the time.  August is not the time for outdoor shindigs.  Early fall and spring months are.
