wedding attire: decidely not HOT

So here is the dress I usually wear for daytime weddings. SIL and I both agree it is too casual for the upcoming wedding in LA.


SIL likes this dress, but we both also agree it might be a bit too fancy for this event. We both think I need something 'in between.' But here it is on me. You can tell those gams have been under wraps all winter and hello sternum. I have a bony chest. Not sexy.


Of all the shoes I own, I only think two would work with this dress. I usually wear the red ones with it. I hate the black shoes.


And I would bring this purse.


Of course, all of this is if I decide not to buy anything new. I am not opposed to making a few new purchases. However, I don't want to spend much and whatever I buy, I need to be able to use for more than this occasion. I kinda want some new stuff, but with all of our medical debt, I feel stupid spending money.

Anyways, let me know what you think. Suggestions welcome.

What do you think about accessories? I am torn about a necklace with this dress. I feel like I need one, but nothing I have seems quite right. I simple one seems too small but the neckline already has enough going on, so I don't think a bigger one would work? Ugh...I need help.

I don't think that the black dress would be too dressy.  Skip the necklace and do some long earrings.  I like the red shoes, but maybe not with that dress.  How about just getting some nice black pumps.  Then you could get more use from them.

And I agree that the red shoes jazz it up, and a small and close chain would be nice.

I like the red shoes because they add some color. The site zilla suggested has some affordable shoes in really fun colors. Maybe I can get something from there.  I wear a lot of black, so some brightly colored shoes could be incorporated into my wardrobe pretty easily.

OFace - I have a really simple necklace that H got me that I could wear and then some ear rings.

is there any way you can wear one dress on top of the other, go to the event, and then decide based on what others are wearing?

OFace - Elsa Peretti did an alphabet series for tiffany's and H got me my first name initial for our first xmas together on a thin, short, silver chain. It would be perfect for this.

Hmo - Maybe I can wear all of my dresses and just do costume changes like Cher. The grande finale could be my very own wedding dress!
