Wedding Woes

I swear if anything else happens.....

At the end of december last year I had bunion surgery on my left foot. It was going fine until 2 weeks later I had an allergic reaction to the adhesive strips they had placed over the incision. I had blisters and itching like there is no tomorrow. It took the blisters a month to go away. So by early februrary everything was healed and the blisters were gone and I could walk fully on my foot.

Fast forward to last week (a month after fully healed). I had just finally gotten use to walking normally. Then I go and step on a walnut while walking down the stairs. My right ankle is sprained and the entire foot & ankle is bruised. My left ankle is also sprained but not so much. For the first two days I couldn't walk without crutches (I guess it's a good thing I already had them!).

In two months I'm hoping to have the bunion surgery on my right foot. It's going to take that long for all the bruising and such to go away from the sprain. Then it'll be june or july (or possibly august if I don't have the surgery until june - b/c my doc is on maternity leave) before it's all healed and I can walk. My wedding is in september!

I swear if anything else happens, especially to my feet, I will go absolutely crazy!! And I'm already half way there! Anyone else having constant problems leading up to their wedding day?

I am sorry about your unfortunate series of events. I know you are probably just venting, but afterall, it is just life. Sh!t happens and there isn't a damn thing you can do about it except deal, make the best of it and move on.

Who stores walnut on their stairs? Or do you mean outside steps? We used to have a black walnut tree that pelted the yard (and the occasional squirrel) with big walnuts but they were kind of squishy and covered in whatever the outside is.

I once saw on Oprah that this wedding party was hit by a drunk driver on the way from a wedding and the brides niece was decapitated and her head landed in her mothers lap. She picked it up and cradled it along the highway. That is pretty horrific.

I also don't get the walnut storage on the stairs. That's just an accident waiting to happen.

As others have said, you just have to deal with it. It will pass. Bunion surgery sucks, but what can you do?

Why not put off the second surgery? I would think the last thing you would want would be cutting on your foot again so soon after all of that.

Um...you are having the second sugery before the wedding....possibly months before the wedding. I do not understand what your problem is.

I'm assuming the walnut was on an exterior stairwell.

    Agreed.

Also, how old are you that you already need bunion surgery? I thought that was mostly reserved for the 60+ crowd. (I may or may not have a personal interest in the answer.)

DG, my cousin had it at 25, but her feet were jacked up.

The walnut was on the outside stairs. And I'm 24 and my feet are pretty bad. Besides I don't want two different shaped feet at the wedding! I couldn't imagine trying to find shoes!

And yes, this was just a vent. Not looking for a pitty party.
