Wedding Woes

*6*

Thank you for bringing the smack down on 3rd tri. She's on my BMB and has always kinda bugged me, the whole insurance thing makes it.

    TL;DR

She and husband have saved up 14K so she can stay home once baby is born. They will need to pay for insurance out of pocket. She isn't sure about the plan they found for $400 a month to cover her, husband and baby.

6 is the first person to say "Hey, if you cannot afford that, you cannot afford to stay home."
  • OK - is anyone else DYING over the selling plasma suggestion?!?!   Geez.

<div>YES! My first thought was what? My second thought was, if she plans to BF, that willl certainly not help. But hell, $300 bucks a month guys!</div>
  • And you get to stand in line with all the drug addicts and alchoholics and college students!!!  Yay!
  • Ha!  I was a little impressed with how that turned out.  I thought FOR SURE I'd be flamed.  Especially when I said a perfectly able bodied person should work instead of take assistance.

  • God help me, reading some of those responses...

Jojo, thank you for pointing out how fast those med bills can pile up and not even be in the ER.Like....a cancer diagnosis (even with great insurance, it's amazing how those bills pile up)....a vaginal birth...that "elective" surgery that isn't particularly elective...hell my broken foot was over 10K total, never went to the ER or surgery, never even filled a presection for painkillers.

Plus those extra special long long term ramifications of EVER lapsing on health insurance.  Hellloooo preexisting conditions.

  • It also irritates me to know end that she spelled dilemma wrong.  I have little room to talk, but jeeze louise.  I did notice she didn't respond to anything else though.

<div>Yeah, even "emergency" type stuff adds up. My BIL was fresh out of college looking for work when he broke his ankle. Badly enough to need surgery to pin it. No insurance, he was able to qualify as an indigent adult, but still paid a ton and it affected his credit for years. He is just coming clear of all that.

    She has NO clue.</div>
