I STILL have foundation issues

I've been working out this bottle of Revlon forever....and then I started mixing in two foundations I didn't like, for a custom color.

Way back when.....when hmo made the joker MinM-face for my foundation issues....since then I have not found a foundation I love. And the issue is color...I feel like I can't find one that isn't too orange, or too white.

I'm a pale faced white girl....I feel like there are millions of me and there should be a good foundation for me.

So I guess this either leads to a tedius trial and error process where I go back to Ulta every week until I find something I like, or quiet acceptance of the orange ring around my hairlne. Or, I could go with bangs....but that is a whole 'nother can of worms, isn't it.

Re: I STILL have foundation issues

  • Can you ask a makeup consultant to recommend a color for your skin?  Does Ulta have people who will do your makeup?

  • I feel you. I know you can't use Bare Minerals but that is the only thing that saved me.

Have you tried any of the Lorac foundations? Or Bobbi Brown? I've used those two in the past and they were the best.
  • Is there a reason you want a liquid? I have the same issue but both Pur and Bare Minerals actually match pretty well. With a little bit of a correcting primer and you really can't tell. It does tend to need a touch up by lunch along my T zone but not enough that I look horrible. Really, it is probably only me that notices.

  • Well, nvm. PMeg just answered my question. Ignore me. ;)

  • My guilty foundation secret is Maybelline mousse stuff.  It feels SO GOOD and goes on so smoothly and I think the color matches better for me than anything else.  But I can only use it in the winter because it is too oily in the summer.  In the summer I use Loreal True Match, which is still a little too white for me, but with powder and a little bronzer over the top I think I look alive.

  • I've been loving the Neutrogena Healthy Skin foundation.  It isn't as orange as Revlon.

No. I have not. And you are pale like me, so I'll take your advice. Maybe I'll grab some of that Maybelenne (sp?) zsa recommended to hold me over until I can make a Sephora run (which I have been avoiding, because I have been coveting some Bobbi Brown eyeshadow forever and I don't need any more eye shadow).

Thanks for the suggestions :) I am not married to the notion of a liquid, but the bare essentials stuff makes me break out.

  • how about a tinted moisturizer? Or the new "BB Cream" stuff?

I was actually goign to ask you makeup people about the BB cream.

Does smashbox not work for you? I know they only have like 4 or 5 foundation shades, but the fair and light are both pretty light and don't turn orange on me (and EVEYRTHING turns orange on me).

  • I like the Fit line, if you're into cheap liquids.   http://www.maybelline.com/products/92  I never have matching issues and you know I don't know jack about makeup.

  • I tried smashbox and didn't not love it $50s worth. It didn't perform any better/worse than the other liquids I've tried. Maybe I'll give it another whirl.

I feel like I need more than a tinted moisturizer, because of my rosacea...I'm pink.

  • I personally have never liked liquid foundations Min. As a pale person, I always had issues with it blending around my jaw and hair line. I also have oilier skin, and liquid foundation was the debil for me.
  • This sounds weird but ... A pale green concealer or moisturizer (physicians Formula makes one) under foundation corrects a red tone in skin.  I am pretty pale and I can use most ivory tone liquid foundations.  I also use the green tint under foundation and it seems to tone down the red in my skin, although I do not have rosacea. I swear I do NOT look like an alien with the green tint.
To find a new one wait until there is a coupon and a sale and buy a different type at CVS.  Also I think that CVS still has that deal where you can return open makeup if the color is wrong... but you may have to check on that.

  • I tried the Makeup Forever foundation and I love it.  It's pricey, but I barely have to use any.  There is a small army of colors that start off with finding your base tone and going from there.  It's the first time I actually found a foundation color that I called perfect.
