Ah, the old vibram 5-fingers.  Seems like soemthing with a name like that should have a much better purpose.

Still, while I haven't tried these IRL and agree that they look bad, I'll bet they are awesome.  I could totally get on board with the barefoot running trend and the whole idea that our feet weren't evolved to be shoed.

(Not that I don't love LOVE shoes, but really, there's no way we're *supposed* to be wearing 4" heels every day, biologically speaking.)

I think these would be better suited to climbing rather than running.

I'm all for being barefoot, but these strike me as weird/uncomfortable.

I don't see how it would be comfortable to have that much stuff in between my toes. I do imagine they'd be good for climbing though.

Are these the shoes that are to be worn with toe socks?

MIL has given me numerous pair of toe socks.

(Edit: I do not wear. Too much between the toes.)

Jorge Garcia was wearing a pair of these in a picture on his blog.  They give me the heebie jeebies.  What is barefootesque about haveing stuff between your toes?

I saw them on Jorge's blog, too.  And the guy from hunter-gatherer.com wore them when he was on Colbert a month or two ago.

DH has a coworker whose husband co-owns a running store (catch that?). Anyway, they were wearing them for an article in the STL paper.

A friend's son got a pair a couple of years ago and loved them.

I do wonder about people's different-shaped feet, though. (toe length, width, etc.)  But they've been around for a while, so I guess that issue is not as big as we might think.

I agree about the "too much between the toes" thing, but then again, people say the same thing about thongs, and they couldn't be more wrong.  I'm not going to knock it before I try it.  (And, let's face it, I'll never try it. I'm too cheap.)

Several of my friends have said they're very comfortable.
