iPad for $69 at Sears

Did you hear about this?   The people that run Sears' website accidentally listed the iPad for $69.   Of course, word got around and everybody and their brother ordered one.   Once Sears noticed the mistake, they cancelled everyone's orders.  So no one really got one for that cheap.   And now those people are all up in arms about not getting their iPads for 90% off and think that Sears should have honored it.   Some geniuses are saying they'll never shop at Sears again.   Surprised

My first thought when I read this news item:  'I wonder for carrann ordered one.'

It always amazes me how angry people get over this. There was a $30 designer stroller debacle on amazon about a month ago and the girls on my month board wanted to start a letter writing campaign.

    People are so dumb.

I'm sure Sears would much rather suffer the 'boycott' than get stuck with the bill for a gazillion free ipads.  And if you are the extremely cost sensitive couponing type I bet your boycott suddenly ends when Sears has the best price on something anyway.

OTOH, Lowes had a misprint on a kitchenaid mixer that they DID honor, and they got a ton of good press and good word of mouth over it.

So, while I may not be all up in arms, count me among those who tend to believe the companies should honor misprints. Sears is not going to go bankrupt over a bunch of ipads.

With an ipad, though, there are probably contractual obligations, since no one is allowed to compete on price with it.

Heh, back in my time it was the $69 snugride35 at Wally world online. Although I'll own it, I put in for that order. You never know what might happen in the name of customer service. I did get a $15 gift card out of it though. Of which I spent $25 that I never would have dropped at a WM to begin with. A win for both.

Was the Lowes misprint online or in a circular? I'm pretty sure a printed error has to be honored, plus the spread of a misprinted circular is much smaller than the Internet.
