RPOTD - White girl with a dumb question

Last night while I was being hypnotized by Drake's pretty face I kept thinking about his hairline.  Is that super straight line natural?  Or do black men sometimes shave their temples and foreheads?

  • ::another white girl chimes in::

could it be combed forward and cut neatly? I mean, who (black, white, green, blue, or orange) has hair growing that far down on their forehead?

No. This is one reason why they get their hair cut every week. It's called an edge, and they are very strict about it.

Shape-Up is the name given to a hairstyle that is a cut around the hairline. It is usually mixed and matched with other hair styles, but on many occasions is done alone.

It is typically found amongst men who utilize the Caesar cut. The hair is cut low, and after the primary cutting is done, the barber uses T-shaped clippers or a sharp razor blade to line up the customer's hair line, circling the entire head to include behind the ears, the back of the head, and sideburns. In nearly all cases as well, the barber may remove other hair which is visible from the customer's shirt collar growing from the back or lower neck.

  • for examples, see "barbershop" and/or "barbershop 2."

btw, dh sent me some apartment rentals to look at.  one of them was a private rental (we assumed by the decor that it was a military guy renting out his townhouse), the guy had a barbershop chair in his living room.

  • Nola stop lying to them.  You know it just grows like that.

  • I'm still confused. Hair actually grows halfway down his forehead?

  • The youtube videos make it look like they are shaving to even up the lines.  And it looks like his hairline is just that low because a lot of people on the interwebz are jealous.

Here is another rpotd hair related post. Have you ever wondered why men wear these?

They're called Du rags or wave caps, and you aren't suppose to wear them outside of your house. This is right up there with wearing pjs out of the house, IMO.

Anyway, they wear it to create waves in their hair.

  • my friend wears them to keep his dreadlocks in control under his cap.

  • Well huh.  White girls learn new things every day.
    image
  • I knew what they were called but I honestly always thought it was just a successory.  Interesting.
