Wedding Woes

::OFace::

1) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114805/ <- here is the info for Unzipped. I think you would really like it.

2) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0762117/ <- here is the info for Maxed Out. It was SO interesting. Of course, a lot of this information, you may know. But I learned a lot, too. I mean, I know how the credit companies build their predictive models for targeting consumers, but it was a shock at how reliable those models are and that FICO has something like a 90% failure rate.

Also, one university piad $13 MILLION dollars to be on a college campus to try to get new customers during the first week of school...you know like they do.

3) I had to toss my smashbox highlighter. I had cracked the cap. My MK one is kind of clumpy. I don't know if I need to shake it up and use it more, or if it is shot.

4) UD FFS. Nuff said.

5) I had a sample of Bumble and Bumble shampoo, conditioner and leave-in treatment from a recent trip to Sephora. a) I liked the shampoo and conditioner, but b) the leave-in was so thick, my hair is an oil slick today. I should have used more caution when dispensing the product (and used WAS less of it), given how thin my hair is but I wasn't thinking. As such, I can't really comment on the products overall. I was looking forward to them, because PMeg loves her some B&B.

6) Do you ever buff your nails? I do on a regular basis, using a fourway board I get from Sally's. I got one from Target yesterday and it worked like a dream, but it is going to be shot after one more use. (The Sally's ones stand the test of time, but they never work as well as the one I bought). What I use looks like the thing below, do you have any recos?

7) I am getting may claws done for my trip. Let's talk colors :)

Re: ::OFace::

  • Yes, UD put something on FB about this.  I will have to look now.  :)

    I have both naked palettes, but I really want the new liners.

  • 2) Our local university actually banned them from campus about eight years ago now.  They used to be used by all of the organizations (mostly Greek b/c of the number of people in the groups) to "fundraise" and we used to call it the gauntlet right before Spring Break of people yelling at us to sign up for this credit card and get [insert free item here].  I think they're still allowed one row of tables in the Student Union, but it's out of the walking way.  Last time I was there, it looked dusty and not used.
  • 3.  Highlighters:  If it's liquid I would just remember to shake it up..it probably separates, which is kinda gross, but the nature of the product.

    5.  I really would love to try B&B curl creme, but I just bought a really nice one from Target from Shea Moisturizers or something weird and random. It smells like tropical things and makes me happy.  And it doesnt' make my hair crunchy, which is AWESOME.

    6.  I don't buff my nails.  I do when they're peely to make sure any peeled layers stay down..my nail are awful.  Peely and gross.  I keep using a great "nail fertilizer" but I'm thinking it will take another 3-4 weeks to really see any improvement.  I think the cold/dry weather doesn't help.  And yes...Sally Beauty has the best of anything for the nail tools.  Cheap and useful.

    Colors?  Do tell.

    I counted my polishes the other day...between 230-250.  GUILTY.

  • Varuna, that is great. The Univ featured in the film, is where I used to work. ::no pride::

    OFace, andplusalso, I got a phone call confirming my apt # so the special pharmacy could mail out my vanishing cream - that fancy new derm prescribed for my age spot. I don't know what it is really called....but vanishing cream seems appropriate.

  • Not retin A?  I've wanted to alternately try that and am horrified at the same time.

    My skin is actually improving.  I think it is the new washing/toning/lotion regimen.

  • Min, get the trial size of the thickening spray by B&B. It's $9 at Sephora. I'm trying to decide if i like that or Aveda's Phomollient for my hair. Aveda is winning as it definitely makes my hair shinier but B&B gives it more volume. I cant justify spending the money on shampoo and conditioner though.
  • Oh and the ones that do come on campus, have to hand out a pamphlet about the dangers of credit.  It's actually pretty awesome.  I was proud of the campus for that.
  • Pmeg - I just bought jumbo sized pureology shampoo and conditioner bottles. I am all stocked up there. I also have about three leave-in lotions and potions that I need to kill. Plus, I have some aveda stuff my hair guy gave me. I am not buying anything for my hair for a while.

    Oface - it is not retin-A. Only one pharmacy in the country makes it. I do have a retin-A skin regime from MK. I need to bust that out. I am still working my way through the microdermabrasian kit, which I LOVE.

    Varuna - that IS great.
