Wedding Woes

so, we have a mouse

i went into the living room this morning and found my cat sitting by one of the airvents, obviously interested in something.

i'm thinking, maybe she's cornered a bug.  so i turn on the light to see what's got her attention.

then i hear something like scurrying, and i see a MOUSE in the vent.

sweet whore of pratt street i almost peed my pants.

i'm thinking it got in there through the crawl space.  i'm hoping it just got lost and there is only one...but i know that's probably naive of me.

ugh.  now i need to call someone to check out the crawl space.  no way in hell am i going down there.  ::shudder::

the cat can do much good here.  she doesn't have her front claws, and isn't as quick as she used to be.  she's pushing 10 years old, and i thinkh has a touch of arthritis.

but at least she found the bugger for me.

    DED!

Our cats bring us tiny little uggy rodents. A couple days ago...they had half a mouse on the doorstep. ZOMG! Sometimes it's a little chipmunk looking thing.

No, kitties, I do not want. Surprised

Yes, that's what i've heard. But do.not.want kitties!

When I go for walks, they walk with me. Smile Everyone is usually surprised by that. Our puppy goes too.

Kat, you or Mr. Kat need to look through every cabinet and every spot on the wall to find a hole. When you find a hole plug it up with steel wool. That'll prevent them from coming into the house again.

I'm begging you not to lay down glue traps, though. Snap traps are way more humane.

Yes.  Snap traps with peanut butter.  The kind that looks like a little house, so you don't see their faces all smashed to sht.

i don't even want to do the traps.  gross, and just plain inhumane. plus, the last thing i need is for miles to get too curious near one.

i'll look through all the cabinets tonight.  they are brand new cabinets, so i'd be shocked if there was a hole.  this was the first sign of any rodent in the house.

ugh.  makes me want to throw up a litte.

I found evidence of a mouse earlier this year, put out a trap, caught him and that was that.  I am 99% sure he was a lone wolf of a mouse.  I hope you only have one lost little guy, too.

if my mix PB, molasses, and oatmeal, you can make the world's best bait...
at least according to the grad students en masse I worked w/ who were trapping 1000's of rodents :-)

I do have my cheap/humane livetrap method but, I'd just put out real traps for the suckers.

Beause yeah, they don't belong in the house!

My puppy brought me a baby opossum a couple weeks ago.  He was so wide-eyed and proud of himself.  Unfortunately, he was not fully vaccinated at that point so we had to get the rabbies shot a couple weeks early.

He didn't kill the thing either!  I was flipping out, told Conan to drop it and took him inside.  A few minutes later I went to look at the opossum and he was gone.  Disgusting.
