how many languages do you speak?

ASL counts. text speak does not.

I know ASL letters and enough signs to get by in a banking atmosphere (I used to work at a bank next door to a retirement center for deaf people - so I learned banking words and how to ask for ID's, etc.)

I can read a lot of basic French, but cannot speak it very well.

I took Japanese in HS, but don't remember a whole lot anymore.

So, yeah, I don't really speak any other languages.

Spanish and Italian. Not well, not all the time, but I understand it.

Enough spanish to get by in light conversation and in medical situations for work. I took three years in HS, then didn't use it for years, so I lost most of it.

Just English. I can typically understand every third word of someone speaking Spanish, but I hated taking it in HS and college. I've kind of put it out of my mind because I hated it so much.

I can read hebrew but don't know what I'm saying. I can read and speak some italian (I can order with a flawless accent), and I know some signs but not many.

I can understand quite a bit of Spanish, Italian, German and French. I can also read it with the correct pronunciations. At this point, the only one I could maybe carry on a elementary conversation in is the Spanish. Thank you opera major for making me take at least one year of every language offered at the university.

ETA: I should say only Romantic languages. No Japanese or Chinese, which is a whole nother field of singing/training. Quarter tones, ack!
