since your post was so far down..
I scheduled 3 classes and hospital walkthrough for us. We took the infant care class, which we both found very helpful, as neither of us has experience with babies. (it was a 2 hour overview - how to diaper, bathe, dress, etc. - basically, "how not to kill your infant 101")
the breastfeeding class was scheduled for 11/3 - the day I was induced, so needless to say, we didn't make that one.
the 6 hour childbirth class wals scheduled for 11/6 - 2 days after I had Wolverine
the hospital tour was scheduled for 11/18... a bit late for us there.
I talked with a lactation consultant in the hospital (on pumping basics), and the NICU nurses have been helping me in trying to BF Wolverine. (holds, latch, etc.) I think the BF class could have been useful, but the 1-on-1 attention is probably more helpful.
I think the class on childbirth would have been VERY helpful - I was getting some tips on the fly from my nurses, and was asking a bunch of questions, but I think that the basic overview on what to expect would have been great. DK got to experience everything firsthand, and handled himself really well. the only times they kicked him out of the room was when they put in the epidurals. (yes, I had 2)
I was stuck in my hospital room for a week prior to my induction, so was pretty familiar with the routine, nurses, equipment, etc. Spent a day and a half in L&D before the OR, and they were good about explaining what they were doing/new equipment/etc.
