Photography Disappointment (Bit of a Rant)

So, my dad got married about three years ago and my brother got married last summer. (My wedding is coming up next May.)

My dad and his wife used a particular photographer and they were AMAZING; subsequently, my brother used the same photographer and they were AMAZING again.  I loved them, all around.

NOW, just now, I find out that the photographer has already moved from my area and is now across the country.....

Not only did these guys make an incredible product, but over time I've become comfortable with the whole team (having already spent two full days with the team).

So, now I'm pretty disappointed that they won't be photographing our wedding.  I have to search for something I didn't think I would need to, and start all over with a whole new set of people.  I know that's the case for most people, but it's harder to go backwards after feeling like I had that piece done and down without any shred of worry.  So it's something that has popped back onto my To-Do List.

For some reason, the whole thing is much more disappointing than I might have expected.

Garbage.

I know that; I'm not worried about getting another good (or even outstanding) photographer.<div>It's just disappointing (definitely not throwing me into a tailspin!) to know that something so important that was DONE is now not.</div><div>I know it will be perfectly fine; the point of the post was to express my initial emotional reaction.</div><div>

You may want to contact them and see whether they recommend someone in your area - I imagine they know/heard about everyone.  Tell them how much you love their work and value their opinion (since it's true). I found my new hair guy that way after I moved - referral from the woman who used to do it.  

Sorry you're feeling so bummed.  It does suck when you think something important is done and it comes back.

I agree! There is a possibility that they have worked with another photographer before or simply know of a comparable photographer. Also, you may also want to ask other friends and family if they have any ideas. I actually found my photographer by asking the cordinator at my reception hall and cake decorator for photographers they would recommend. Good luck and I hope you find one you love just as much!

That is a bummer. I know some photographers in my area actually will travel, some depending on how far they have to drive just add a traveling expenses clause in their contract. So you might want to try calling up the photographer and see if he's willing to travel.

I was just about to say this. Why can't this person just travel to you? Most really good photographers I've heard of travel all the time.
