Generally I love my job. I believe in the cause, I find it rewarding, I adore my boss.

I just got a fairly nasty email from someone regarding the tax number for my organization. He needed it for a fundraiser. He asked me for it last week. Unfortunately, the person who could give it to me was on vacation until yesterday. That person sent me the number yesterday evening just before closing time.

The person wanting the tax id emailed me this morning asking for an update. I asked him for the direct contact for the fundraiser as it would cut out the middle man and I wouldn't be giving our tax id number to a non-business person.

Rather than giving me the contact info I get an emailed rant going on about how National doesn't care about grassroots movements, that he doesn't want to be involved in any of our programs ever again and on and on.

I'm so annoyed I'm shaking.

He was an asshole but the tax ID # isn't a big deal. It's on your W9 that any customer can request for tax purposes and a number of other places too.

Thanks, Candi. It's just so irritating. I realize that he wanted to get things done and going but to come back at me with that was just nasty. Hell, I was trying to get the information he needed. I can't help it when people are on vacation. Not my fault he has schitty timing.

I feel your pain.  I work in customer service for a restaurant chain and was told to go screw myself last week.  Why?  Because we discontinued one of our salads, which caused this customer to swear she'd never order from us again and she'd tell all her friends never to use our services again either...and instead of offering to travel 1500 miles to personally make her the salad I told her I was sorry we'd be losing her business and I hoped she'd give us another chance.

Hell, if I had your business name I could probalby look up your tax ID in a few minutes. He sucks at life.
