I can't believe I forgot to tell this story.
Earlier this week I was out walking the dog (just one, the other gives up and wants to be carried before we get home, so I leave her at home when I want a longer walk). We were strolling through the park when these two 13ish yo girls come running up. "Can we pet your dog??? PLEEZE!!!!!" Note that one of the girls is white and one is black.
I said, "Sure, but let him smell the back of your hand first before you touch him so that you don't scare him." (remember that we are dealing with the world's most aggressive breed here). So they both plop down on the sidewalk and stick out their hands. The dog goes to the white girl first and she says "Oh, I think your dog doesn't like black people! He likes me best!"
Say what?
It then becomes a competition between the two of them with the black girl calling to him saying "Don't you want a little chocolate? Chocolate over here! I taste better!"
He never went to her. So I guess I have a racist dog. I really wanted to say, "He's not racist! I know because his sister is black." But I didn't think that would come across as funny as it was in my head.
I just a friendly gal looking for options.
