Wedding Woes

This can't be the same Company I left

Things have been very bizarre lately.  They're bending over backward to make me happy.  The most recent thing is an email I received this morning.

I had told the office I can't attend the spa day (they all have the day off the day after taxes are due.  The women go to the spa and the guys go golfing and they all meet up for a nice lunch and then they're off the rest of the day).  I've got DD and Gig Kid and I didn't think it was necessary to cancel on Gig Kid's parents so I could go to the spa.  Plus, I don't have anyone to watch DD.

I get an email this morning saying the firm will pay for child care for that day so I can attend and to please think about it.  WTH?  I was never treated so nicely when I worked there.  It makes me feel good, like I'm appreciated, but also crappy that this wasn't the case just two short years ago.

make more demands -- make them pick you up, carry you to the car and drive you to the spa!

gbck, until a year after I started there, everyone went golfing.  Most women didn't find it enjoyable to be forced to play with men who actually take golfing seriously in schitty April weather and eventually worked up the courage to ask for something different.

eh, so don't make it about gender.
There are probably some men who think playing w/ competative assholes = not their idea of a good time.
ANd there will eventually be women there who don't want to be shunted off into a spa day.

Just offer options that aren't determined by the plumbing.
