Wedding Woes

movies i do not recommend.

Bridesmaids

for baconsmom: three words, Judd Apatow movie.

for everyone else, there were a bunch of funny parts. the blowup where she punches the cookie? hilarious. but too much hype.

also, everyone in the movie is an ahole. and these were not 22 year olds acting like this. these people looked at least 35 years old. i grew angrier and angrier until she finally blew up. and then i felt ashamed for her.

but the roomate was funny in the beginning.

The Debt

It was just okay. and then i read a review on the original (from 2007) and have no idea why they changed so many important parts to make it american. i do not for one second believe she would ruin her daughter's life (spoiler alert, a sentence too late).

three words: old person fight.

Re: movies i do not recommend.

  • My favorite scene in bridesmaids was the multiple drivebys with the cop.  "who's driving that car!?!?!"

  • Bridesmaids was pretty "meh".

I completely agree on the ages of these people and the way they were acting.

And does Jon Hamm always look like that (I don't watch MM).  Because he was not attractive in this movie at.all.

I did enjoy the very beginning in the diner.

    the car scene was funny.

i totally agree with jon hamm. he looked like he was greasy, didn't shower, and smells like Brut.  but the character is supposed to be douchey, so it makes sense.

there were a ton of funny parts. but mostly, lots of parts that just tried too hard. and the fat comic relief person? played out. at least she was funny. the "i'm not an air marshall" was funny.

Bridesmaids was worth it just for the Chris O'Dowd character. And yes, I know that's totally unrealistic.

Jon Hamm was still sexy, but only because I knew the real Jon was in there somewhere, and only the character was douchey.

I did not like how Bridesmaids paralleled the Hangover so much, especially with Wilson Phillips at the end. ugh.

Does anyone else think Chris O'Dowd looks like Ben Lee?  Maybe an older version, but I really thought that was Ben Lee for a second.

I had to Google Ben Lee, but yes, he does.

  • I loved Bridesmaids....
Especially the part where she's trying to get the cop's attention and keeps driving by doing all the illegal stuff. My husband's favorite scene is the one on the plane to Vegas, which is pretty hilarious.

I was just thinking about this movie the other day at work. I was having carrots & ranch for a snack, and I found an "ugly carrot"...I didn't eat it though! Couldn't bring myself to, lol.

  • I still love Bridesmaids and it might very well be because I hadn't heard much of anything about it before I saw it.  The puppies!  The dueling engagement party toasts!  Wilson freakin' Phillips, people!

the engagement party toasts made me wince. i would be so embarassed for those two chicks. awkward. and it got me to wondering how immature the bride is that she didn't see anything wrong with this whole mess.
