Wedding Woes

remember that "fan" thing I was looking for?

Imagine my surprise when I opened up Moo.com's marketing email this morning and found the exact same damn thing!

A graphic designer in Michigan made a portfolio the same way I was hoping to do my project.

And here I thought I was cool and semi-original. Oh well.

Turns out she DIYed hers with a drill press and screw posts.  I already bought looseleaf rings to make mine. And I don't have a drill press. And I need to make 100 of them in 7 days, not a few to hand out here and there. She used mini cards, and I'm using full-sized cards.

I have narrowed down a couple of local (that is, within 30 minutes' drive) printers who can probably do the drill press part for me. Then I'll have to have some kind of assembling party or something.

Oh, how I wish some of you guys were local so you could come to my wine-infused assembly party. :)

heck, try the local high school or middle school's shop class. they'd probably do it for you free of charge.

I'll just drink wine and think about drill presses.  Does that help?

How thick are the cards? I would think a heavy duty hole punch would do the job just fine.

They are fairly thick business cards. 16pt stock. And each "Fan" would have 7 cards.

I could punch each card individually I'm pretty paranoid about getting the holes lined up properly that way. Also, 700 punches is a repetitive stress injury waiting to happen. Machining this would be SO much better.
