Had my "tall person" shopping spree yesterday. It was SO AWESOME!
Now, as "tall" goes, I barely qualify. normal pants are just about an inch or two too short for me. So I was a bit out of my element when people started throwing 37" inseams at me. But hey, pants can be hemmed, so that's already a pretty big win. AND I had a friend to shop with and tell me whether stuff looked good or bad, work-appropriate or not, etc.
I was VERY excited about the shirts, though. Most shirts become belly shirts on me, especially if I am wearing anything approaching a low-rise pant. Also, forget anything long-sleeved. It just ain't happening.
I am currently sporting a camisole that extends a good 3-4" below my hip bone. The straps are fully adjustable, too, so I am not showing boob or bra. I bought a long sleeved shirt that is also this long in the torso AND fits my arms! I'm pretty confident I can even throw it in the dryer and still be able to wear it afterward.
Of course, everything was full price. The camisoles were $22 each, and I happily paid it to get some that fit. Hopefully they hold up well over several washes & wears.
I spent $460 and got:
* 2 pair of jeans (including one "skinny" jean. craziness.)
* 1 pair of work pants
* 2 camisoles
* 1 long-sleeve knit shirt
* 1 winter coat
So, notthing approaching a good deal, but throwing in the coat (with sleeves that cover my wrists!!! No more freezing wrists, people!) made it more reasonable. And I was able to get a good sense of their sizing, so I went to the website last night and spent another $150 on sale stuff (2 more camisoles, 2 more shirts, another pair of work pants, and a belt).
So yeah, it was good that I had been holding off on buying stuff.

Some of the stuff was really ridiculously priced, though. Open-front cardigans for />$100, and you could see through 2 layers of fabric. Standard tank tops for $60. jersey knit PJ sets for $65. I just couldn't do it. (also - SO not hemming pajama pants!)
I am excited about the stuff, though, and there's a very affordable swimsuit on the site that I'm thinking I might get and take the boys to swimming lessons or the pool this summer.
All in all, VERY exciting!
