Venue..

Has anyone had any experience with, or have any thoughts on the chinese room at the smith tower?

It would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Amanda & Scott

I think it's a cool room... you could have fun with it! But it's small, so that's a downfall :o)

We only have a 55 person guest list so small is best for us. Less room to try to fill up with decorations and etc.

We seriously considered the Chinese Room. It's so beautiful and historically significant with a great view.  The price of the room itself is kind of high for summer, lower for other months.  The columns seperate the room in a strange way making some guest feeling like they may not be able to see everything.  The viewing deck is awesome with the 360 view, but the bars all around would make for weird pictures.

You can basically choose your own caterer which is great and can cut costs down significantly especially when you can provide your own alchol. However there is no kitchen so if you want a sit down dinner you run the chance of the food not being very hot.  So spend a bunch of money on food and its cold...not fun.

They let you reserve parking for your guests in blocks I think its something like $5 per car something like that.

The bar is stuck over in a corner which makes guest getting drinks a bit akward.

It's a really cool place, and I would have loved to have used it, but there were too many cons for this control freak. :) Good luck to you!  Hope this helps.
