Wedding Woes

Idiot guest RANT! (sorry) haha

We decided long before we made up our guest list that we were not going to invite (and guest). We invited the following: Guests with husbands/wives and guests who were dating or lived with their boyfriend/girlfriend.

We wrote out our list out and didn't include one of my dad's work friends who moved to Arizona...not only that, but he's a sleeze. We sent out the invites and then this guy moved back here to California and said to my dad "oh man, how come I am not invited to the wedding" so my dad said to just add him on there.

We sent him an invite...to him only. He is NOT dating anyone and is not married. He sent back the invite with him and some chick written in. I got pissed off because this was most likely some chick he met at a bar and at 140 dollars per person I wasn't about to allow some chick to come so my dad's friend can get laid afterwards. I sent the guy an email being really nice to him asking if he could introduce the chick to my dad and mom so we know them because my fiance and I made it a point to NOT have anyone on our wedding day we have no clue who they are because it's a really special day.

My dad's friend proceeds to call my dad up today saying that I verbally attacked him and said I didn't want his guest there. WTF?! HOW FREAKING RUDE ARE SOME PEOPLE! I want to uninvite him so freaking badly, I don't need this stupid ass stress.

The polite way to deal with this situation is to contact him and say that due to space restrictions, you were unfortunately not able to invite single guests to bring dates. Essentially telling him that you need to meet his flavor of the month before you allow her to grace your special day is rude. And, as you now know, it only causes more unecessary drama.

ETA: I can see why your future ILs don't want to come to your wedding.

You know, you had me up until your dumbass email.  He was wrong, but you handled the situation very poorly.  You should listen to Duckis, in the absence of your own common sense.

    Oh, and just in case.

I'm still confused as to why this douchebag got an invitation in the first place.

I agree with the PP.  I wouldn't have invited the guy in the first place.  Just say, sorry dad, we already have all the guests we can accomodate!
