Wedding Woes

I am Frustrated so gonna vent(Warning: long vent session)

GAH! aren't bms supposed to want to help you out?  mine are acting so selfish.  My MOH is my sis and she's rocking it!  She's been so supportive and awesome and good at letting me vent but my bms are acting like they are being put upon.  My mom and MOH are planning a bridal shower but keep changing the date because my bms "cant make it" or they have other things going on that day.  My mom is getting so frustrated with their stupidity that I think she's just going to pick a day and stick w/ it and screw the BMs if they can't come.   That's only one part of a vent session.

So i had to request off the date for the bridal shower, bach party etc.  My boss expects an invite for the shower, which in turn I would have to invite her to my wedding. NO ! I dont wanna. dont make me!  But it's my boss.  sigh.. how to handle that craziness.  no clue.  I guess I could invite her, but I wasn't planning to.  And adding to that chaos the other supervisors were eavesdropping on me and my boss' conversation and now they all expect an invite as well.  SIGH!!! i dont want to invite any of them.  I try to refrain from wedding stuff at work because I don't want ppl thinking they are all invited,  when I have to request days off I put it in writing and put it in my boss' mailbox so i dont have to speak about it.  but how do I get around not inviting all my supervisors.  Its not that I don't like them it's that I tolerate them only.  I don't want to mix work w/ pleasure but i dont want to experience retaliation over not inviting them.. what to do what to do.. ok im done venting for now

  • It's good form to invite your boss, especially if you're going to continue working there after the wedding. Anyone else in your office can get the standard "our venue just doesn't have the space to invite everyone."

As for your BMs, there's no rule that says they have to do anything but show up on the wedding day in the dress you choose. Tell your mom and sister to pick a date for the shower, and whoever can make it will be there. I had 6 bridesmaids, and 3 of them were at my shower. My sister/MOH couldn't even be there, but the world didn't end.
  • ty for the advice and your puppy is really cute!

  • Why does everyone think the bridesmaids are supposed to be so helpful with everything? I don't think I've even seen that on wedding shows or in magazines, so I don't understand why so many brides have that idea in their heads.  As for the party dates, stop changing them. If those girls can't come, that is too bad.  Invite your boss, but don't feel pressured to invite other people from the office.
