Wedding Woes

Do I have to?

Just got off the phone with my mom, apparently her sister (obvs my sunt) is in town visiting until the 15th. Has been here most of the week. And I just found out. Okay, whatever.

Well Aunt took it upon herself to organize a little family reunion for the last weekend she is here. Both her kids, their spouses and respective brood will be here. One cousin I haven't seen in like 10 years because his wife didn't think the 4 hour drive down should be wasted to see her husband's family.

Apparently one of her older children lives rather close to us now and NOW the drive is okay. I was fine with them staying up north, he isn't one of my favorite people, hell, we didn't even invite him to our wedding. He has never met my husband.

And ultimately, since our house has the nicer backyard and is more gathering friendly, I get to host this shindig. Weeeeeee.

So your mom called up and said "Hi, we're inviting dozens of people to your house.  See you soon!"?

    Hide the silver.

My mom asked if we could have it here, i tend to host most family gatherings here because despite my small kitchen, the flow of the house is better for large groups. I acknowledge this. And I get to show off a little, we did just finish with renovations and all.

I think I am most pissed that my sister has the excuse of livingin another state to get out of this. My brother and I will be all on our lonesome against our two cousins, we normally outnumber them.

Please tell me someone else is providing/footing the bill for food and drink for this thing?  Preferably your aunt.

My aunt? Nah. It will be Grandma. Some from me, some from my mom, and most from Grandma, I can say that much for sure. My aunt has a problem being "grown up." She is emotionally stunted, should be in therapy, and her kids are the better for it. Well, between her and their dad.
