Wedding Woes

Greetings- tales inside

I'm reporting live from Pre-Law camp. The program is cool, but it's only been 22 hours and we already have draymz. There are 18 kids; 13 girls and 5 boys. They're all quiet nerdy good grade kids; as an RA my job is plush. But:

1- one girl is just worrisome. She has questions about everything and everyone; sht like "I calculated how much money we had on our meal cards and I worked out an allocation for each meal! Is this a good plan? Are we going to have enough money?" I told her to relax; we weren't going to let her starve or force her to panhandle.

1b- I knew this girl would be a PITA, though, 'cause her dad was a PITA. This is roptd. He's a loud Jewish guy who bellowed, "YOU KNOW, I THINK IT'S WONDERFUL THAT YOU GUYS HAVE THIS PROGRAM FOR THE AFRICAN AMERICANS. I'M HAPPY MY DAUGHTER CAN PARTICIPATE; SHE'S NEVER SCARED TO BE THE ONLY WHITE FACE IN THE ROOM!!!" The professors and I were all Undecided "Mmmkay, dude, yeah, we shall overcome." Dad had on a Martin Luther King tshirt and everything. Bwha.

2- One of the boys is very gay. I mean, he had a hairbow on this morning. I am not making that up. His roommate is a very straightlaced Black super baptist church boy who's never spent more than 2 days away from his parents. He's in college, but he lives at home. Once he found out Gheyboy was his roommate, he asked his parents to buy him his own room. The parents came to us talking about how they were concerned for their son and can we arrange for Gheyboy to be w/ someone else. The program director said that Christian boy could not have his own room and we were not going to reassign him. However, his parents were free to withdraw him if they were that worried. They decided to "let" him stay, but they'd be checking on him every couple of days. I'm like, this is an academic program, not prison. Gheyboy had to write an essay and have letters of recommendation and have a good GPA like everyone else. He's not looking to do any rump wrangling while he's here. *sheesh*

Meanwhile, Christian boy is not hot. Gheyboy would not want him anyway. Srsly.

I'm sure I'll have more tales as the days progress.

Why do the homophobes always assume the gays want them, and will have them at any cost? C'mon, people, this is not how relationships work in your world, is it?
