We just got reassessed and our property taxes will be $6500 for the year.  WTF indeed.

Do you not have an escrow account for your homeowners insurance?  We didn't for ages, but with the new house, we do.  I didn't really get it the first year and paid the insurance myself, only to get a refund a month or two later.  Boy did I feel d u m b.

My county real estate taxes are only $501/year.  City is three times that.  Still, pretty cheap.  Yet another reason I will never be able to leave here.

Those taxes were for the half.  Same with car insurance.  The homeowners was for the year.

We don't escrow.  I put money in a savings account each month.  It's not much interest, but the escrow drove me batty.

The one that really honks me off is the water bill though.  That's $75/MONTH.  $10 of it is "debt reduction" bull schit.
