Less than 6 months ago, my gym was bought by another gym.
After the purchase, the fitness coordinator and a lot of the other good instructors left because the new gym owners had a reputation for not paying their employees. They went to another gym, about a mile away.
Membership has been waning, and they aren't maintaining the gym as well as the previous owners.
On Monday, I went to my usual Body Pump class and the teacher told us that instructors haven't been paid in 3 weeks. She got our email addresses and sent a note last night saying that the replacement checks they were given bounced, and that she doesn't think any of the instructors are going back.
It seems the writing is on the wall. I need to go look at different options.
