Wedding Woes

Sunday

On Sunday we are set to meet some friends in Ft. Worth on our way home. ILs called H and asked if we wanted to meet them for a meal. He said no and then yes to a bunch of stuff.

Apparently, FIL told him we need to find a church and start praying because we are going be facing a lot of hard time (re: our infertility) in the future. Then FIL asked "Who knows and who can we tell?" H said BIL & SIL know, but that we aren't exactly taking out a full page ad out about it.

FIL asked if he could tell his parents (I guess they had been asking?). H said yes and left it at that. H and I feel as if we have already been through the roughest part of it, so we kind of laughed about the needing to start praying now part. Oh well, I guess it was too much to get out of this without some sort of church/Jesus/pray?read your psalms comment.

I asked H as we were driving if they will EVER stop mentioning church and Jesus to us and just accept us as the way we are (oh, we openly drank at the wedding. H has never openly drank in front of his parents. Oh, we're out (about our inferility) and proud.)) H said they will never quit the church/Jesus biz. We'll just filter everything through BIL & SIL. He said they can "be the super Jesus go-between."

We met our friends and had a lovely, long early dinner and then made our way back home. It was too late to pick up the dogs, so we stayed up late clearing out the DVR and enjoying being home. Trip = success.

Praying is a private thing but it also isn't the end of the world.  It wouldn't hurt to try.

But who would I pray to? I don't believe in God or Jesus? If I did, I'd be pretty pissed at him right now for makign my life this way.

I understand.  It's complex.  I guess a start would be just talk to the air, to the universe, whatever, privately.  See if that brings any release of stress.  Its' a start.

Well, H and I talk about everything, so it's not like I or we have a bunch of crap built up. Plus, I ramble to you guys on FB. Nothing it pent up.

So what you're saying is we are your God? I have a similar problem with my parents. They have a lot of the same problems with the church that H and I do, but they still go because "it's what you do." I haven't been to Mass since Christmas 09, and I think I have a better relationship with God for it. But my mom thinks we're heathens. I just refuse to discuss it anymore.
