Wedding Woes

Things.

I have some.

1. I feel bad for the Ben when I am burping her. With this cough she has, every burp also triggers a cough and it almost sounds like she is choking. But she seems to be feeling okay otherwise, I've gotton smiles out of her today.

2. My Grammy apparently had a quiet, restful night at her new home. Her old one kept saying she was frequently confused and making "too much noise" which resulted in her being moved from room to room and floor to floor. When we would visit her, her call light wouldn't get answered for 10 minutes or more and we often had to go out to the desk to find someone to bring her pain meds, etc. I have a feeling the "issues" were their own creation.

3. I think we've found someone to nanny for us, now we just need to decide on nanny versus day care, cost wise there is a big diff. DC we are considering doesn't have an opening until June and for right now won't take cloth diapers, but even at full time, would be less then part time nanny. Decisions.

Re: Things.

  • 1.  Aww.  Some of those noises can be scary.  The gummy smiles are the best.
    2. Sounds like the former home was run by azzholes.  I'm glad she's much more comfortable.
    3. Good luck.  Choosing DC can be so stressful.  We were so luck to find our sitter and that it's been going so well for almost 2 years.
  • 1. They do make some weird noises at that age. I hope she's feeling better soon.

    2. Ugh. I hate the thought of nursing home people being nasty to old people and mistreating them. This sounds like a much better situation.

    3. That can be tough. I hope you can work it out and find something that works for all of you.

  • Yes, picking childcare sucks pretty hard and is incredibly nerve wracking, like closing on a house or more like a short sale You'll get something good eventually....and glad grandma sounds like she's in a much better facility.

  • Childcare was something we had problems doing. H's mom worked part time when he and SIL were kids. I was in a series of HORRIBLE at-someone's-home babysitters.

Now, with DD's program in the morning, we have a sitter in our house in the afternoons. But before this situation, I was hell bent on her being in a reputable daycare center. It was a decision solely based on my experiences.

You'll find something that works for you guys. And remember - you can always change it.

daycare was the biggest source of stress when we first started to look into daycare options. his first daycare was fine, until it wasn't fine anymore. now i feel like a pro, and will leave him anywhere that isn't all sharp edges because of how well he does in a daycare setting. but those first few weeks when i had to make a decision? pure torture.

nico said something very helpful - the kid is too young to remember if you've chosen well or not, so go with your gut. you can always change where she is later.
  • Ugh, just piling on the daycare stress. It's hard, and it sucks.
